groups” (focus in ending Child Marriage and Female Genital Mutilation).

The Association has been involving in different activities in collaboration with Asociación Mujeres entre Mundos, Spain before it was finally incorporated in August, 2015:

 

In 2010/2011, IWADSA collaborated with Asociación Mujeres entre Mundos to execute a developmental program titled “Youth in Action” in Nigeria, a program funded by European Union. In 2013, IWADSA in collaboration with Asociación Mujeres entre Mundos, Spain and Niger wives, Akwa Ibom Chapter installed Palm oil making machine and Boreholes in the community of Ikot Ekpene in Akwa Ibom State in an aim to empower the community for poverty reduction and promote good health and Personal hygiene.

 

In 2014, IWADSA organized various workshops on women and children rights such as; Prevention of HIV, Campaign against child forced-marriage, Female Genital Mutilation and Violence against Children.

 

In 2016, we also collaborated with Asociación Mujeres entre Mundos, Spain, Niger wives, Akwa Ibom Chapter to install bore holes in the rural communities of Akwa Ibom and Cross River states.

In the same vein, we have made donations to various orphanage homes in Cross River and Akwa Ibom States of Nigeria.

 

In the present time, we are searching for funding opportunities so we can develop our own projects, programs and initiatives to help Nigerian women and children.

 These are development programs and activities we have been able to carry out until now.

PROJECT NARRATIVE

 

Explanation of the project:

 

PURPOSE OF THE PROJECT “DARING WOUNDS”

  • Sensitize the society about gender-based violence (GBV) against Nigerian women and girls (focusing on force child marriages and female genital mutilation)

  • Rise awareness and minimize GBV against Nigerian women and girls (focusing on force child marriages and female genital mutilation)

  • Ensure the accomplishments of Nigerian women`s humans rights.

  • Empower, train and educate women and girls victims or not of any kind of gender based violence and/or human rights violation, to rebuild their lives and generate attitudes of prevention and self- protection, for not relapse into any kind of situation of GBV and human rights violation, such as force child marriages and female genital mutilation.

  • Sensitize professionals (doctors, teachers, lawyers, police, social workers etc) who have direct contact with Nigerian women and girls who have suffered any kind of GBV (most of all: force child marriages and female genital mutilation), so that they can exercise their profession without violence, discrimination or performing unethically and unprofessionally. And most of all so they will be able to help these women and girls.

  • Train and educate professionals who have direct contact with Nigerian women and girls who have been victims of any type of GBV, in order to improve and increase their skills and strategies.

  • Increase male involvement in the actions taken to combat gender violence against women, such as force child marriages and female genital mutilation. To join the actions of fight to eradicate attitudes and beliefs that goes against Nigerian women´s and girls’ human rights
